Fire and Ice
By Vagisha Shrivastava
The poem 'Fire and Ice' by Robert Frost expresses the profound idea that the world would end in either of two ways - both of which are self-destructing human desires i.e. desire and hatred. The poet compares fire with desire, he himself has encountered desire and identifies that it is sufficiently powerful to destroy Earth. However, if Earth had to perish twice, another cause for its destruction would be indifference and hatred referred to as ice. The poet thinks fire and ice, both are just as potent in bringing the world to a catastrophic end.
