We had a class early in the session during which  sir gave us an introduction to our first chapter  “The Letter to God”. In this lecture sir asked us a  question – “Do you believe in God? Does God Exist?” That day I couldn’t speak much on this topic but today I  plan to answer it through this post. By Stuti Rawat I would like to share a story from my life to urge you to act before you lose a friend.  I have known her since we were 4 years old and were in Nursery. We eventually became best of friends in Grade 2. Our friendship grew stronger as we were growing. We used to spend all our free time together in the school. We used to talk endlessly about everything. We would play the same sports, and we were there in the same clubs. Even when our sections changed in Class IV we still remained best friends.  Then we entered the Senior Wing. It was a different world all together. When we had to choose the third language for study, I chose Sanskrit and she took French. Eventually, we started to spend less time together. How much is genuine?   We often associate all these tags with the expression of sorrow. We often see society judging people on the way they express their sorrow or their grief specifically when there is a loss of things which are either irreplaceable or non- materialistic.  If a person has accepted the reality, is not lamenting, standing up straight and is just going with the flow, then we would witness a few elements which would conclude that the person is unaffected by the loss. The person wasn't attached to the lost good.  If a person is initially highly heart broken but with time has normalised the loss then that probably is the right way to deal with loss as most suggest.  If a person is not emotionally strong enough and isn’t able to deal with the loss then there shall be a few who will say that maybe the person is overdoing it.  This re...

It always flows in the forward direction and does not stop for anyone irrespective of their social, economic or political standing.  Everyone should respect and value time as it is equally important for every person and wasting it would just lead to resentment. All successful people recognize time as the most important resource and use it thoughtfully. They don’t waste time unnecessarily and also utilize leisure time in productive ways. Most of us have a terrible habit of piling up our work and spending crucial hours performing unnecessary activities. We procrastinate till the last moment and complain about not having enough time. With the ineluctable need to bring about changes in the existing educational policies and with the aim to universalize education from pre-primary to secondary level, i n July 2020, the Union Cabinet made a set of guidelines which would replace the National Policy on Education 1986. National Policy on Education 1986 primarily focused on theory based learning. With a parochial approach the learning is often limited to the textbook content. Flexibility is a major lacking in Indian colleges at all levels which leave the students little choice but to jump on the bandwagon. By Stuti Rawat “History repeats itself, first as tragedy, second as farce”, said Karl Marx.  What isolation or quarantine feels like when people don’t treat you well is something that every woman must have experienced at some or the other point of time in her life. The restrictions that are imposed on one when the person has COVID 19 are pretty much similar to those that were imposed on women in the past during their menstruation and are still put on women in some households.  The drill is very much the same: you are meant to be away from people, you can’t be at public places, you have to eat your food all alone, no one dares to touch you, you have to wash your own clothes and utensils, you can’t touch your closet and what not. The only difference is that when a person is tested positive for COVID 19 the person is suffering from a disease which is communicable and can harm the masses if we don’t take proper precautions and follow the proper isolation norms.  But can you e...

The lawyer read it and kept it inside his pocket and continued his arguments. During the lunch break, the judge asked him, “What information did you receive?”  The lawyer replied, “My wife died”.  The judge was shocked and asked, “Then what are you doing here? Go”.  The lawyer replied, “I can’t bring back my wife’s life, but I can help these 46 men get life and prevent them from dying”. The judge, who was from Britain, ordered the release of all the 46 men. This lawyer was none other than Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

 By Bhoomi Gupta (Final ASL Speech) ‘A Letter to God’, written by the Mexican writer G.L. Fuentes is a story where Lencho, a farmer, writes a letter to God when his crops are ruined. The reason I like this story the most is that this was the only chapter we could do during regular classes before COVID 19. I still remember the question sir asked us, ‘Do you believe in god?’ and our answers to it.  With the world shutting down and leaving everyone in doldrums, the re-broadcast of Ramayana and Mahabharata brought a huge comfort to us. This got me thinking ‘why do people believe in god?’. The more I thought about it, the more puzzled I found myself. Even the countless walks on my terrace couldn’t give me an answer but now that we have lived a year in the pandemic, I think I have an answer.  The problem was that I was focusing too much on “GOD”, while the whole point is about “BELIEF”.
